RaceCompatibility is mainly a plugin that adds compatibility for custom races. There are some custom race mods that require RaceCompatibility in order to work properly, others don't. You should be able to check on that 1) on the mod's page under the requirements section or 2) in Nexus Mod Manager, if you use it. Here's a preview of my first ever public Skyrim mod, giving each race unique textures to make them appear more distinct. Releasing in a matter of days. So my first public Skyrim mod is nearly complete, just need to tidy up some leg seams, create the FOMOD installer and alternate options like smaller texture sizes, and I thought I'd give you all. This package allows mod authors to make mods based on the RaceCompatibility.esm to work properly with the Special Edition. With optional compatibility for USSEP, Better Vampires. Also fixes a bug in R. For The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on the Xbox One, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'race compatibility patch'.
Load Order
Load order is important. My mod has to be in the correct load order. I highly recommend you use LOOT to sort your load order; it is quite easy to use. The load order in general should look like this:
Skyrim.esm
Official DLCs
...
RaceCompatibility.esm (if you use it)
...
Unofficial Patches (if you use them)
RaceCompatibilityUSKPOverride.esp (only if you use the USKP)
SkyRE (or similar overhauls)
...
Custom Races
Texture Replacers (vampire eyes, skin colour, etc.)
...
Better Vampires.esp
Royal Bloodline.esp (only vampire mod that should be loaded after mine)
...
Also, please remember that the installation order is just as important as the load order! If you use NMM to install my mod it will overwrite the scripts of other mods that use the same files - HOWEVER, if you install my mod first, then remove some other mod that used the same scripts, NMM will replace the other mod's scripts with the vanilla Skyrim backups it had.

I do not use a custom race or the RaceCompatibility mod, but Jayce Styles created a great video on how he got his Lunari custom race working with Skyrim, the RaceCompatibility mod, and Better Vampires:
Modder ‘HeartAttackMan’ has released a new HD Texture Pack for both the Legacy and the Special editions of Skyrim. As the title suggests, Disparity and Diversity adds unique textures to each and every race in order to give them a more varied appearance and to better reflect each race’s characteristics.
All the newly overhauled textures will work with the default male/female meshes. The male textures will work with vanilla meshes, even though they were made for Males of Skyrim. On the other hand, the female textures work best with the UNP compatible meshes, or the Nordic Faces.
This mod is compatible with all racial ability overhauls such as Imperious. It is also compatible with skeleton replacers, as well as with NPC overhauls.
The 2K version of this mod is 1.4GB in size, whereas the 4K version is 4GB in size. You can download Disparity and Diversity for Skyrim Legacy from here, and for Skyrim Special Edition from here.
Since this mod improves the textures of NPCs, it is compatible with almost all the other Skyrim graphical mods we’ve been sharing lately. Thus, you can use it alongside Skyrim 2020 Version 3.5 or Septentrional Landscapes SE. You can also use it with this 10GB AI-enhanced Texture Pack that overhauls all of the game’s textures. Naturally, this mod is compatible with Project Clarity – Creature Textures Redone, Project Clarity – Effects Textures Redone, Project Clarity – Clutter Textures Redone, and Grass and Ground Overhaul SE Mod.
Additionally, you can use it with the Enhanced Blood Textures mod, which makes the game gorier and bloodier than ever. Furthermore, you can use it with this mod that overhauls its magic system by adding more than 200 new spells. Or you can use it with this mod that completely overhauls its enemy system.
Have fun!
